MacArthur Park is a roughly 3,000 square foot cottage on the shores of Lake Huron that can sleep up to 12 people with 4 bedrooms and an airy loft with 3 beds. Prior to becoming a cottage rental, the cottage was owned by our grandparents, Robert & Doris MacArthur. Growing up we made many wonderful memories at “Camp Grandma". We enjoyed tea parties and painting on the back deck that overlooks Lake Huron, playing board games on the screened in porch on rainy days and took short strolls up to the Heritage Bayfield Main Street! Our family recounts wonderful memories playing pool in the rec room, fishing on the Bayfield River or watching the sunset over the lake while roasting marshmallows over the fire!
Our grandparents' wish was that this cottage continues to be cherished and enjoyed, just as our family has done over the past 25 years. Our hope is that your stay will create precious memories that will last a lifetime!
You will be able to see the lake from almost every room in the cottage!

The Cottage
When you first step into the cottage, you are immediately greeted by floor to ceiling windows all along the lake front side of the cottage. Take a stroll to the upstairs master bedroom where you will find a king bed and the perfect balcony to relax with a book while the sun sets over the lake. The neighboring bedroom, which shares a 3-piece bathroom with the master, hosts a king bed.
The main floor bedrooms (one king bed and one queen bed) share a 4-piece bathroom, while the upstairs loft is the perfect place for the kids to sleep and play. In addition to the futon and two single beds, there are loads of toys and board games. This loft sure was one of our favourite parts of the cottage when we were stuck inside on a rainy day.
While your kids play in the loft, relax in the sunroom with a good book or play pool in the rec room. When the sun is out, rally the kids, grab some beach toys and chairs, take one of our books, and head down to the public beach. No need to worry if you forgot something because it’s only a few steps away from the cottage! Please be advised that water levels for Lake Huron are at an all time high, causing beach erosion and disappearing waterfronts. We cannot guarantee that there will be a beach during your stay.
The kitchen is fully equipped with just about anything you can think of! A Keurig, blender, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, stove, oven, fridge, and freezer. Don’t worry about bringing utensils, dishes or cook ware, we’ve got you covered! We’ve also got a washer, dryer and iron so you don’t have to pack that extra bag!
Enjoy grilling out on the BBQ and don't worry about propane levels as the BBQ is connected directly to the cottage!

2020 and 2021 have been difficult and challenging for us all, but we are ready to help you and your guests find a safe home away from home and adjust to the new normal.
In view of the current pandemic context, MacArthur Park has adopted a series of health, hygiene and safety procedures recommended by governmental authorities, namely the Government of Canada, the Center of Disease Control and the World Health Organization. We have engaged a professional cleaning company to clean the cottage and sanitize all touch points with a disinfectant in between each booking. We have also adjusted our check-in times to ensure that there is a rest period in between the cleaners leaving and our guests checking in. To limit contact and touchpoints, we have added a smart lock to the front door, and guests will receive a unique access code that grants them access.
We know you are probably eager to resume your traveling plans again. Understanding and complying with all the norms will allow us to offer you an experience that will feel as much safe as memorable.
